Green River Distillery is located in Owensboro and is the 10th oldest distillery in the state producing more than 90,000 barrels of bourbon and rye for its own brands and partners. Job Summary
The Event Manager will ensure successful execution of events from wedding rehearsal dinners, weddings, elopements, birthday parties, retirement parties, and corporate meetings/dinners in multiple events spaces. The Event Manager must be a master organizer, be proactive and have foresight to anticipate and solve problems quickly. The ideal candidate will be able to provide outstanding customer service and organize memorable events that meet the intended goals and expectations for the client. Must be able to work with clients directly to identify their needs and ensure customer satisfaction.
Job Description/Responsibilities
- Responsible for every aspect of producing events, from the pre-planning stages to post-analysis
- Work with and supervises other event staff
- Must be hands-on in execution of events – assist others with set up and tear down when needed – to ensure accuracy of details are followed for every event
- Promote Bardstown Bourbon brand in the best possible way
- Ability to see the “big picture” and meet objectives in all stages of event planning and execution
- Able to articulately propose ideas to improve services and event quality
- Proactively anticipate problems that may arise with event and address immediately
- Ability to learn and efficiently navigate Tripleseat event software.
- Experience with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)
- Coordinate with restaurant General Manager, Executive Chef, and Bar Manager on menu selections, beverage selections, room setup, etc. and organize everything on BEO’s to be distributed to each department
- Work with the Marketing team to host on premise events
- Coordinate with Visitor E team for event tour experiences
- Create and manage floor diagrams for private dining and Visitors Center reception area
- Responsible for constant communication with clients, keeping them apprised of event progress
- Arrange for any related amenities with outside vendors such as flowers, equipment rentals, and audio/visual equipment
- Work with Creative Department or outside services to make professional menu cards and signage, where required.
- Responsible for tracking and calendaring all private dinners, tour group lunches and dinners, and special events
- Manage the event area on the mezzanine
- Commitment for the Company’s ISO program including the quality and food safety of our products
- Commitment to compliance with all insurance, legal, health, and safety obligations
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Role Qualifications and Essential Skills
- Degree in hospitality, tourism management, event management, or related field preferred
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent at problem solving, multitasking and time management skills
- Skilled in project management
- Proficient in 365 Office
- Must have a polished and professional presence, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Extremely customer-service oriented
- A team player with leadership skills
Physical Demands
- Must be able to handle exposure to outside elements (heat, wet/damp, and cold conditions)
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to sit and stand for considerable lengths of time.
