Perform registration duties for all non-patient, referred, and clinic account patients. Perform secretarial and general office duties for the laboratory. Collect chain of custody urine specimens for post-accident/for cause drug screens on outpatients and pre-employment for all new hospital employees. Assist customers in person or by telephone with inquiries regarding laboratory test requirements/results or appropriate test order codes and specimen collection tubes. Coordinate with our two reference laboratories for any patient, test or specimen discrepancies. Lab administrative specialists may be scheduled to work in the processing area and perform laboratory processor job duties to include receiving incoming specimens from the pneumatic tube, daily scheduled courier drops, and delivery to appropriate departments for testing.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous office experience is preferred, to include
working knowledge of computers and office machines. Excellent organizational, oral and written
communication skills are required. Knowledge of laboratory terms preferred. Accuracy and efficiency required.
